After having such and enjoyable experience taking in a Fringe concert last weekend, this weekend we headed back to Mylor for a musical variety night. Held the first Friday of each month, local musicians are offered 15 minutes on stage to perform 3-4 songs of their choosing. Ilene and Bob invited us to the event and we were pleased to bring Maynard and Lois with us to experience some Aussie country-style entertainment.
The $5.00/person entry fee got us each unlimited refills on coffee and tea for the evening as well as a raffle ticket. Carolyn purchased a cheese platter from the Canteen to supplement the nibbles we had brought with us.
Arriving just before the opening act, we got a table at the back of the hall near the sound booth. We quickly made friends with Rod and Ron, two of the evenings performers, and chatted a bit before they were called up on stage. They were a friendly duo who got the crowd into a sing-a-long.
In-between acts, the MCs started some joke telling. Then one performer did a 15 minute comedy routine, which had us in stitches! 🙂
The line-up was mostly guitar and singer combinations. However, the headliners for the evening, “Koalas at Night”, were a 4 piece jazz band. They had our toes tapping!
All in all, the music in Mylor was a great way to spend a Friday night!
That would have been SO much fun! Glad that Lois and Maynard have been able to experience the local talent:-). Enjoy!
Yes, we sure know how to host, eh! 🙂
Friday Night Live –down under:) Maynard I don’t think the sign will fit in your suitcase:)– you will have to find a smaller souvenir of the party:) Party on!!!! Marilyn
Yes, it was lively and the pictures will have to suffice. They’ll need the sign for the next event! 🙂
