What an amazing view of the Grampian Mountains we woke up to! And several hundred kangaroos as well, munching their morning meal in the paddock across the road. Carolyn even viewed the kanga’s technique for fence jumping – which was indeed effortless! Wow!
Our first stop was the Brambuk Cultural Centre in Halls Gap. There we viewed two films on the creation stories of the area and the geological explanation as to how the mountain range was formed. We read posters explaining about the history of the peoples and viewed a boomerang demonstration. We also got up close to a male kangaroo, a female kangaroo and a joey who were obviously used to tourists.
Unfortunately, our planned bush tour was cancelled as the tour guide was not at work that day. We made the most of our morning by driving out to a sacred site where Bunjil the Creator was painted on a rock. Then we returned to Brambuk for a delicious bush tucker lunch!
Our afternoon took us up the mountain to view several amazing sites, including McKenzie Falls, a favourite place of Sean’s.
We feasted on hot rocks at a local restaurant to round off our eventful day in Halls Gap!

Yes, group pictures can work out even when they are taken with a timer. We are having such a great road trip and are enjoying every minute! Thanks for being one of our Top Comment-Makers on our blog! More adventures to come…
Great shots – brings back some very pleasant memories. đŸ˜‰
Yes, it has. Interesting what I remember vs. what I see. Distances seem much larger but individual elements seem smaller. Hard to believe that our first visit was over 20 years ago. Having lots of fun!
Looks like such a great adventure! Keep the posts coming!!!
